Ship Impacts

Wakes and wash produced by deep-draft vessels moving in narrow waterways or high-speed vessels in open water can have a significant impact on berthed vessels, wharf structures and shorelines. These can include serious economic consequences, such as berth downtime, environmental consequences, shore erosion, and safety issues (such as large, freak waves at swimming beaches). As ships become larger and waterways become more crowded, these issues will only become more serious.

Coldwater Consulting has broad experience in ship-wave related studies. As well, Coldwater has developed several proprietary numerical models specifically designed to address the generation and far-field propagation and transformation of waves.
