Accurate information about the environmental conditions at a project site is essential for reliable engineering decisions. The increasing power and speed of computers have made the numerical model the design tool of choice, enabling designers to simulate numerous test cases or proposed solutions. As well as proving to be economical design tools, numerical models also enable researchers to gain valuable insights into the physics of a system, allowing hypotheses to be tested and the relative importance of various phenomena to be assessed.
Coldwater has developed a wide range of proprietary numerical modelling tools to compliment its toolbox of commercially-available software. These range from sediment transport models to fish habitat assessment models to wind-wave and ship-wave models. Because Coldwater staff have developed these models, we are able to modify each model to suit the specifics of each project undertaken.
