Our expertise in hydrology and hydraulics lets us understand, predict, and work with flowing waters. Stream assessments, flood plain mapping, topographic (including LiDAR) data analysis, hydrologic modeling (HEC-RAS), groundwater and free surface modelling are all done in-house by Coldwater staff. Recent projects have illustrated the usefulness of time-varying, two-dimensional flow models such as Telemac and ADCIRC in providing insights into velocity and circulation patterns that simpler 1-d and hydrologic models cannot provide.
Coldwater has worked on systems as small as drainage networks and creeks to those as large as the Great Lakes. Our project experience includes: the effects of urbanization on natural stream systems, flood and erosion hazard assessments, natural channel design, the protection and restoration of aquatic habitats, assessments of the effects of impoundment and diversion, optimization of water management plans to reduce riparian damages, and sedimentation and erosion analysis.
